Review of 2025

We have once again experienced a year marked by significant political and economic challenges, both in the UK and globally. UK insolvencies continued to rise in 2025, reflecting the wider economic environment. The uptake of fabric measure installations such as home insulation has been affected by well publicised issues surrounding solid wall insulation, alongside the current round of Government funding approaching its end. Together, these factors have placed pressure on written premium despite continued growth in demand for renewable energy measures.

Despite these challenges, 2025 has been another positive year, reflecting our strong performance as the business continued to navigate through a period of uncertainty. The business holds considerable assets with which to meet policyholder claims over the next 25 years.

Total claims costs reached £1.42m, another new record as our business continues to grow, and an increase of 143% in just two years since 2023. This consisted of £981k paid in claims during the year and a further £439k added to reserves for claims yet to be finalised.

Over the year, we processed 461 claims. Around 60% of claims payments related to renewable energy technology, with the remainder split between glazing, insulation and other type of home improvements.

For renewables claims, where we waived our right to rely on Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, shifting the financial responsibility away from the finance provider; we paid £119k.
